Northampton walking football club to play 12-hour match for prostate cancer charity
A Northampton walking football club is set to take on a 12-hour fundraising challenge to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK.
Moulton Masters Walking Football Club will host the event on July 4, with players taking turns on the pitch from 7am until 7pm. The challenge will also mark the reopening of Moulton Football Club’s extended clubhouse.
The fundraiser has been organised after a number of club members were diagnosed with prostate cancer, with organisers hoping the event will encourage more men to get checked.
Event organiser Pete McCrone said many members had benefited from early diagnosis and that the club wanted to raise much-needed funds while highlighting the importance of screening and awareness.

Prostate Cancer UK says one in eight men will be diagnosed with the disease during their lifetime, making it the most common cancer in men. Early diagnosis can significantly improve treatment outcomes.
The charity has praised the growing popularity of walking football, which now attracts an estimated 100,000 to 120,000 players across the UK each week, as a way of bringing communities together to support the fight against prostate cancer.
The Moulton event will also feature food, music and entertainment throughout the day.
