Looking for something to do with your friends and family this bank holiday? Make the most of your long weekend and check out these 10 options. Spanning across food, drink, music, cars and cinema, you may find something that takes your fancy.
5. The Royal Oak Festival in Naseby
Based at The Royal Oak pub in Naseby, this day-long event will be running from 11am until 7pm on August 28. For the first three hours, you can visit the craft stalls and indulge in the cake, bacon baps and coffee on offer - but do not fill up too much, as the hog roast will be available from 2pm. After you have let your food settle, you can enjoy the live music from local musicians for the final two hours of the event. There is no need to book, you can just turn up on the day. 6. Duncan Craven at Abington Park
As part of the ‘Bands in the Park’ programme at Abington Park, local musician Duncan Craven will be performing from 2pm to 5pm on bank holiday Monday. His performance at the park is the final of nine he has done across the country throughout August. Photo: Abington Park
7. Holdenby House
After the success of their Jubilee weekend celebrations earlier this year, Holdenby House will be doing the same for the August bank holiday weekend. On August 28, the gardens and falconry will be open - and visitors will be able to see a collection of eagles, falcons, hawks, owls and vultures. On Monday, the house and Royal Holdenby Exhibition will be open, which contains royal memorabilia. Tickets can be purchased online, and start at £5.50 for children and £12.50 for adults. 8. Greatest Showman Outdoor Cinema Screening
The Greatest Showman is being shown in the Luna Flix Outdoor Cinema in Finedon from 7pm until 10.15pm on August 29. Simon Hopkins, Luna Flix organiser, said: “Going to an outdoor cinema, especially with a picnic and being with friends, is a special night out. I recognised everyone’s budgets are now likely to be tighter so instead of raising prices this summer, we dropped them.” You can book your tickets directly through the Luna Flix website.
