CRICKET SPECIAL: Stony Stratford win to take over at the top as Finedon are frustrated by Oundle draw
Stony Stratford are the new leaders of the Northants Cricket League Premier Division - with the top two going head to head in a huge clash on Saturday.
Last weekend was a significant one at the top of the table, as Stony secured a huge 133-run win over fast-fading Peterborough Town, while morning leaders Finedon Dolben were left frustrated.

The reigning champions had to settle for a draw as they were involved in an exciting clash with Oundle Town, who closed just six runs short of a victory, while Finedon were two wickets away from winning.
The results see Stony open up an 11-point lead at the top, with third-placed Geddington, who were also involved in a draw, a further 40 points back.

Stony entertain Finedon at heir Ostlers Lane home on Saturday (start 11am).
Heet Amin and Andy Marston were Stony's match-winners, as Peterborough slumped to a third straight defeat to drop to fifth, 70 points off top spot.
Stony looked to be struggling to set a testing total as they slumped to 77 for four and then 161 for seven, but enter Amin to hit 107 not out from 117 balls, hitting 11 fours and four six.
He was well supported by Marston (33no) as they pair put on an unbroken stand of 110 to steer their side to 271 for seven from 58 overs.

Posh were soon in trouble at 10 for two, and despite a brief recovery led by Nick Green (38), they were staring down the barrel of defeat at 80 for seven.
Farhad Hassan did the early damage, claiming three for 51, before Marston took over, grabbing six for 18 as Peterborough were bowled out for 138 in 40.1 overs.
Finedon looked to have the upper hand after they posted 243 for eight against Oundle, with Sean Davis top-scoring with 52.
The visitors produced a spirited batting display in response, and would eventually fall just short of victory at 238 for eight, with good contributions from Mark Hodgson (48), Bill Amas (47) and Sam Batten (44).

For Finedon, Alex Evans took four for 34 and Daniel Bendon four for 57.
Jack Bates was in the runs again as third-placed Geddington drew at Overstone Park.
Bates led the way for his side, hitting 102 out of their 233 all out.
Charles Edwards then made 75 and Alistair Mclaughlin 69 as Overstone looked to be in the hunt for the win at 153 for three, needing 77 from 17 overs - but a clatter of wickets left them playing out for draw at 185 for eight.

Gagan Singh with four for 37 was the pick of the Geddington bowlers.
Kislingbury Temperance are up to fourth after they thumped inconsistent Old Northamptonians by 91 runs.
Rob Keogh led the charge with the bat for the villagers, hitting 98 from 104 balls, and support came from Harry Penberthy who made 40.
Shivasurya Arun Krishna continued his excellent run of form for ONs, snaring six for 61.
Despite an opening partnership of 48, ONs were never in the hunt in reply as they were bowled out for 160, with Ashley Starmer claiming four for 29.
The other game between the league's bottom two ended in a very high scoring draw!

James Esler thrashed a remarkable 155 not out from just 96 balls, including eight fours and 14 sixes, as Loddington powered their way from 181 for seven to 329 for eight!
Josh Plowright added 42, and there was 31 down the order from Sam Noon - who played the supporting role in a partnership of 142 with Esler.
Rushden gave it a good go in their response as they hit back with 290 for six in their 52 overs, having at one point been 228 for three, needing 102 to win from the final 12.
Chana Ruwansiri top scored with 89 while Ben Paine added 69.
