'We're desperate for your support' - Curle issues rallying cry to Cobblers fans as it's confirmed that Northampton will stay in tier 2

Keith Curle has issued a rallying call to Cobblers fans, saying the team is 'desperate' for their support, after it was confirmed that Northampton will remain in Tier Two of the government's coronavirus restrictions.

While many other areas around the south east of England have been bumped up to Tier Three, Northants is set to stay in Tier Two which means 2,000 fans are permitted to attend Saturday's League One clash against Lincoln City.

And at present Town need all the help they can get. Curle and his players are under growing pressure to snap their poor run of form and return a positive result against Lincoln following three successive defeats, the last of which came in feeble fashion at Oxford United on Tuesday.

Going down 4-0 at the Kassam Stadium, Curle was heavily critical of his players and says it is now vital that the whole club sticks together to stop the rot this weekend.

"This is a relationship and within that relationship, I know that the supporters won't walk away from their football club," said Curle. They will back us and now we need them.

"This is the time when we need them. We were disappointed when they weren't there when we beat Cheltenham and turned adversity into our favour and when we went to Wembley and won the play-offs when nobody fancied us.

"We're desperate for that support and we need their backing. There are two sides to every relationship and we are definitely 'us'. It's not us and them. It's us. We're all in this together, we're all in the same fight and we're all on the same page."

Supporters who live in Tier Three regions will not be allowed to attend home matches.
