A long, arduous but ultimately successful campaign will live long in the memory of Town fans as Jon Brady guided his team back to League One. Having travelled hundreds of miles up and down the country to cover the team, reporter James Heneghan hands out his end-of-season awards. Who was the team’s best player? Who enjoyed a breakout campaign? And what was the season-defining moment? Find out here...
9. Best goal
Talking of Sowerby's goal against Crawley, not only did it come at an important time, it was also an incredible strike. As the ball dropped to him on the edge of the box, the midfielder demonstrated perfect technique and execution to sensationally volley into the top corner. Photo: Pete Norton
10. Standout stats
1) Cobblers finished the season with the best away record in League Two, taking 41 points from 23 games. 2) In stark contrast to last season, Town also had a strong record late on - only Salford (16) scored more goals in the final 10 minutes of games. 3) For the second season in a row Brady's side held their nerve when it mattered most - no team collected more points in the final 10 games. 11. Strangest quote
"There have been words attributed to us from different managers in recent weeks but we have just switched off from all that nonsense and concentrated on ourselves. Everyone who is everyone said we would lose today because they have better players and better coaches and better everything, but let the second-half performance speak for itself." Good old Steve Evans. He never lets you down. He also wasn't happy about Cobblers' celebrations after the reverse fixture. Photo: Pete Norton
12. Worst decision
The decision to send off Aaron McGowan and let Jack Roles get away with his theatrics still boggles the mind. I'm not sure what was worse - the original decision or the inexcusable failure to overturn it. Photo: Pete Norton
