Transfer latest: Curle in talks with three players

Cobblers boss Keith Curle is in talks with three potential new signings and says 'some are closer than others'.

Curle, talking after his side were beaten 4-0 by Bristol City on Wednesday, revealed he has three meetings planned over the coming days as he looks to strengthen his squad further before the October 5 deadline.

"Everything's got to be right," said Curle. "But we are currently talking to three players and we're getting to the stage of crossing the Ts and dotting the Is.

"We've got to make sure it's right. It's got to be right for both for myself and for the football club but also for the player.

"The player has got to buy into what we're trying to create and have an understanding of what will be expected and what demands we will put on them.

"Some players are closer than others because there is competition from other cubs for their signatures, which shows we're looking in the right places.

"It's always good to meet the players. I'm meeting two this Friday and one on Monday and if I can bring the meetings forward, then I will do!

"But they've got training commitments and they also have to get permission from their clubs as well."
