Rotherham boss to watch Cobblers game from the stands at Sixfields

Rotherham manager Alex Bruce will watch today’s League Two fixture against Northampton from the Sixfields stands following an incident in United’s recent game against Bristol Rovers.

The FA launched an investigation into the behaviour of both clubs after players and staff clashed in the closing stages of Rovers’ 1-0 victory on September 5th, leading to a one-game touchline ban for Bruce.

An FA statement read: “Various sanctions have been imposed in relation to the EFL League Two fixture between Bristol Rovers and Rotherham United on Saturday 5th September.

“It was alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 93rd minute. Rotherham United manager Alex Bruce and Bristol Rovers assistant manager Paul Raynor allegedly acted in an improper manner around the 93rd minute, which led to their dismissals, and also after being sent off by remaining in view of the pitch.

“Bristol Rovers and Rotherham United accepted their respective charges and received the standard £1,000 penalty. An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed a one-match touchline ban and £1,000 fine on Alex Bruce as well as a one-match touchline ban and £1,500 fine on Paul Raynor after the manager and assistant manager also accepted their individual charges.”

Bruce is permitted under the terms of the sanction to undertake post-match press duties – should he so wish to - following today’s game at Sixfields.
