Return date set for three of Brackley Town’s key players - and it’s not far away

Brackley Town are preparing to welcome back three injured players very soon following a positive update from assistant manager James Armson.

The Saints have been without captain Kyle Morrison since pre-season, whereas fellow central defender Will Armitage and attacking midfielder Kai Yearn have been sidelined more recently.

Morrison, one of only two of last season’s first-team players to stay at the club, was initially diagnosed for a 12-to-16-week period out and the skipper is now within that range.

The 30-year-old has already been back on the grass and he is gradually gearing up for his return to matchday action. That could come as soon as the trip to Hereford in the FA Trophy on Saturday, November 14.

On the captain, Armson said: “Morrison has had his scan and it’s come back all clear, so it’s a case of building his fitness back up. He will be available for the Hereford game.”

Armitage, meanwhile, has only played four times in the National League North this season since joining from Southampton.

The 21-year-old showed great promise in his first few appearances for Brackley, however his progress was stunted by his injury. It’s hoped he can get back up to speed quickly.

Yearn, who is on loan from Premier League outfit Coventry City’s academy, featured in the first 10 league matches of the season before his setback.

With competition for places hotting up in attack, Kai will be yearning for manager Gareth Dean’s approval upon his return to the matchday aquad.

On those two, Armson added: “Will Armitage is not far away either, and he’ll also be available for the Hereford game. Kai Yearn should be too, so that’s really positive.

“Hopefully, we’ll have no injuries going forward and we’ll have a full squad to pick from. It’s important not to get carried away, but there’s a lot for the fans to be excited about.”
