The 21-year-old becomes the first member of the group of players released by Aidy Boothroyd in May to find himself a new club for the 2013-14 season.

Moult quickly established a very good reputation with the Boro fans during his time on loan, partnering Andy Brown up front and playing 17 games for the club.

Nuneaton manager Kevin Wilkin, himself a former Cobblers forward, feels Moult can develop his game at Liberty Way and progress back to the Football League.

“I am delighted he has come back to us,” said Wilkin. “He may have been frustrated with his goal return but his partnership and work ethic was exceptional.

“He has the potential to step up the leagues, his touch is good and we will help his transition to suit his part time role.

“He is an excellent acquisition and as our ambition grows we have a player that can grow with us.”

Moult made 17 appearances for the Cobblers and scored twice, in the 2-0 win over Port Vale (in which he replaced injured striker Alex Nicholls) and in the 1-1 FA Cup first-round draw with Bradford City.

It was hoped that Moult could become the replacement for Nicholls but a red card in a game at York City led to a three-game suspension that set him back and saw Jake Robinson return to the first-team fold.
