Jayden Stockley scored the winner for Jon Brady’s side as home supporters voiced their frustrations at both the players and Kevin Nolan. Here are our player ratings from Sixfields...
1. Ross Fitzsimons
Only faced one shot on target and it ended up in the back of his net. He did get a hand to Stockley's low effort and may therefore feel he should have kept it out... 5 Photo: Pete Norton
2. Jack Burroughs
At right-back in a conventional back four but the tweak in system didn't pay off. Poor clearance in the build up to Stockley's goal and failed to make it back out after half-time... 4 Photo: Pete Norton
3. Max Dyche
Not hugely tested by an unimpressive Vale attack but mostly did what was asked of him and won the majority of his battles to limit the visitors to few clear chances... 5.5 Photo: Pete Norton
4. Elliott Moore
The back four didn't have that much to do but they never looked particularly convincing. Sherif's early chance, though eventually well blocked, came from an error and Stockley's winning goal was messy... 5 Photo: Pete Norton
