Made one excellent low save from Rooney in the first-half but by and large this was a comfortably-earned clean sheet, his first in over a month and only fourth all season... 7

Justified Curle's decision to put him back in the team over Hall-Johnson with a solid, no frills outing at right-back. Defended at the back post particularly well and limited Salford to little on their left side... 7
3. Scott Wharton
Looked a centre-back playing at left-back at times but he's a very good defender and showed that with a strong display. Has the composure to know when it's on to play and when to clear his lines... 7

Much more like his old self after last week's blip. Dominated aerially and made tackles in his usual aggressive manner and also won the penalty that crucially got his side ahead, even if it was a touch theatrical... 7.5
