Northampton Town 0 Blackpool 3: As it happened and reaction as Cobblers are relegated
With no coverage on Twitter or Facebook this weekend due to the boycott of social media, we have a live blog on this page to keep across today's game. We will have a report and all the post-match reaction as usual...
LIVE: Cobblers v Blackpool
Key Events
- Town host Blackpool in final home game of the season
- Fail to better Wigan’s result and Cobblers will be relegated
- Watson, Kioso and Miller all start
10: Concern for Mills here who looks in a lot of pain. He can’t put any weight on his ankle and will have to come off. Harriman on.
7: Cobblers now want a penalty. Couple of appeals in there as Kioso and Watson go down in the box following a corner. Ref not interested in either.
6: Excellent wing play by Miller. Drives down the left and whips in an enticing ball, just between Jones and Hoskins and the ricochet is beyond Watson.
3: Chance for Cobblers. Jones gets away down the left side of the penalty box, Hoskins is in the middle but the defender comes across to clear.
Late change to the team sheet...
Kaikai no longer starts for Blackpool. Seems he suffered a problem in the warm-up so Embleton comes in.
Warm-ups complete
The two sets of players are heading back down the tunnel. Lloyd Jones just shared a hug and a joke with Blackpool boss Neil Critchley. Jones and Crtichley worked together when Town’s centre-back came through the youth ranks at Liverpool.
Last home hurrah
The scene before kick-off at the PTS. Let’s hope we have some fans in here the next time we see this place...
Brady sticks rather than twists
Jon Brady must have been tempted to start at least one of Chukwuemeka, Edmondson or Marshall after their lively cameos at Gillingham, but he’s stuck with the same XI.
Alex Jones leads the line for a fourth straight game whilst Mickel Miller, Ryan Watson and Peter Kioso have all been deemed fit enough to start.
Grant Ward misses out for Blackpool but Sullay Kaikai is fit to start and Keshi Anderson returns to the bench. The visitors can secure their play-off place with victory at Sixfields.
Remember, Cobblers simply have to win today. Anything else and they’ll be all-but relegated back to League Two.
