Lee Burge signs for League Two club after Cobblers release

Cobblers could come up against former goalkeeper Lee Burge later in the season after he finally signed for a new club four months on from leaving Sixfields.

The 33-year-old, who represented Northampton 113 times in all competitions, including 39 appearances in the promotion-winning 2022/23 campaign, was initially offered a new deal by the club at the end of last season, only for it to be withdrawn following the appointment of Chris Hogg.

Having spent the summer as a free agent, Burge has now joined League Two club Salford City on a short-term deal. He could make his debut in today’s game against Rotherham United.

Cobblers are due to face Salford in November.
