Keith Curle has declared himself 'happy' with his squad following four January signings, but he says the Cobblers will be 'ready' to act if certain players become available before Monday's deadline.

Town's squad has undergone a significant makeover during the January transfer window with Curle making big changes to ensure his side give themselves the best possible chance of staying up this season.

Mickel Miller and Ryan Edmondson joined on loan from Rotherham and Leeds respectively before Portsmouth midfielder Bryn Morris and Luton Town wing-back Peter Kioso also signed for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, on the flip side, Luka Racic's loan spell from Brentford was ended at the start of the month before Harry Smith, Chris Lines and Nicky Adams all departed.

Ricky Holmes also did not have his short-term contract renewed with Town keen to make room in their 22-man squad. "At the moment I'm not in a position to offer Ricky a contract as that would take up a place which we'd potentially need if another player becomes available," said Curle at the time.

When asked if re-signing Holmes, who is without a club at present, was still a possibility given that space in the squad is now available, Curle did not rule it out but stressed he was happy with his current options.

"We're in a position now where we do have spaces available in the squad of 22," said Curle. "But it's about picking the right players at the right time.

"We're not in a rush and we feel we're in a good place in terms of the squad size and the competition we have within the squad.

"We've taken up the five loans but we're happy with those and you never know further down the line. Some players might take up an option because they're not getting the game-time and they could be more of value to another football club by getting their contract paid up.

"That does happen and when you get to the end of the window, you do get some gems that turn up so we need to be ready to bring somebody in if they're the right calibre and the right quality and there's an opening within the squad.

"But we're happy with how the squad is shaping up."
