Town will make the trip to Ashton Gate to take on Championship opposition for the second round running following their impressive 3-0 victory over Cardiff City on Saturday.

Cobblers last visited Bristol City in 2007 when they were beaten 1-0 in a League One fixture. City lead the head-to-head battles with 34 wins to Northampton's 24.

Cobblers boss Keith Curle played over 100 times for Bristol City between 1984 and 1987.

The EFL Cup second round ties will be played in the week commencing September 14.
