Jordan Turnbull and Alan McCormack were among 13 released in July, Scott Wharton and Callum Morton have returned to their parent teams, while skipper Charlie Goode became the club's first £1million pound player when he signed for Brentford.
So, with all those going one way and another nine coming in, how is the squad shaping up for Saturday's opener against AFC Wimbledon? Let's take a look...

13. Midfield: Chris Lines
Started 31 games last season but didn't feature at all in the play-offs. A classy operator in midfield though and has a wealth of League One experience, something which Cobblers will need to call upon this season.

14. Midfield: Shaun McWilliams
Will be like a new signing if he can rediscover his best form once fully fit from a bad knee injury. Expected to be back by October and he'll be a great asset should Curle get the best out of him.

15. Midfield: Scott Pollock
Currently sidelined himself but it would only take an injury or two to get an opportunity in midfield and the 19-year-old has the talent to make the most of it.

16. Midfield: Sam Hoskins
Can play just about anywhere on the pitch but with the wing-back positions well-stocked, he'll initially be used as an attacking midfielder and his performances in the play-offs showed just what a threat he can be in that role.
