Jordan Turnbull and Alan McCormack were among 13 released in July, Scott Wharton and Callum Morton have returned to their parent teams, while skipper Charlie Goode became the club's first £1million pound player when he signed for Brentford.
So, with all those going one way and another nine coming in, how is the squad shaping up for Saturday's opener against AFC Wimbledon? Let's take a look...
5. Defence: Luka Racic
Likely to start the season on the right of the back three and he will not do anything by halves. Enthusiastic and all-action defender who will go seeking the ball. Comfortable in possession and will go charging forward at times.
6. Wing-back: Michael Harriman
A big-game player. His best two displays of last season came in the play-offs and he's a reliable, versatile option for Curle. Able to do a job at centre-back if needed & can play as a more cautious WB against trickier opponents.
7. Wing-back: Joseph Mills
An excellent addition to the squad. Brings balance, experience and creativity to the team. Contributed six assists and eight goals from wing-back last season and will be deployed in the same position by Curle. Photo: Pete Norton
8. Wing-back: Joe Martin
Struggled for game-time last season and is set to start this campaign on the bench with Mills, Harriman, Marshall and Adams ahead of him in the pecking order. Can cover at centre-back and play in either of the wing-back positions.
