Breaking: Brackley Town manager Andy Whing resigns with Saints in National League North relegation zone
Andy Whing has resigned from Brackley Town with immediate effect, bringing an end to a seven-month spell as first-team manager at St James Park.
The former Barrow and Solihull Moors boss leaves the Saints in the National League North relegation zone, with just eight points from their first eight matches in 2026/27.

This newspaper understands Whing communicated his decision to Brackley chairman Matt Wise and the board of directors earlier today (Tuesday, September 17).
There was still belief from the higher-ups at Brackley that Whing was the correct man for the job and further backing was offered to the 41-year-old, however he felt the best call was to step aside.
Pressure had been growing on Whing, not least after the Saints’ relegation at the end of their first-ever season in the Enterpise National League North.
The drop back down to Step 2 was the result of merely one win - and a concerning 12 defeats - in Whing’s first 16 matches in charge.
Many Brackley fans called for Whing to leave his post at the end of 2025/26, but he was determined to put things right.
As were the Saints board, strongly supporting Whing to fulfil his desires in the transfer market. He has a brilliant track record, after all.
Brackley retained just two of last season’s squad, bringing in 17 signings across the summer and recently adding an 18th in the form of the experienced Kieron Morris.
Whing always knew a major overhaul would cause a little chaos to begin with as the new-look squad adapted to their surroundings and teammates.
But perhaps even he couldn’t quite foresee just how difficult the start of the new campaign has been.
Albeit with one fewer match played after their home clash with South Shields was rained off, Brackley are already eight points outside of the play-off positions.
That’s simply not good enough, adjustment period or not, considering they were widely tipped as promotion favourites. Whing would be the first to admit that.
A recent 5-0 thrashing away at Buxton exacerbated frustrations from fans and a 3-0 defeat at Morecambe in the Saints’ next outing only cemented their displeasure.
It’s understood Brackley have already decided on their next manager as they seek to rediscover their mojo, correct their poor form and shift back up the league standings.
