'Multi-vehicle' accident closes A45 near Northampton

A 'multi-vehicle' accident has closed the A45 in one direction near Northampton this morning, Highways England has reported.

UPDATE: All lanes are now open after the earlier accident In a tweet just before 7.30am, Highways England said:"#A45 eastbound is closed at Great Billing due to a multi vehicle collision. Emergency services are on scene working. Thee will be delays in this area so please plan to use another route this morning, or allow more time."

The AA said: "Partially blocked and queueing traffic due to multi-vehicle accident on A45 Eastbound at B573 Northampton Road (Grendon / Earls Barton Turn Off). Congestion to Ecton, and westbound queues on the other side back to Great Doddington."

The road reopened just after 9.30am
