Drivers are being warned that the Chowns Mill roundabout will be closed this weekend for resurfacing work.

The A45/A6 junction near Irthlingborough will be closed from 8pm on Friday (April 9) until 5am on Monday (April 12) to allow extensive re-surfacing work to be carried out.

Highways England is investing £24 million to increase capacity at the roundabout which regularly has severe congestion due to the amount of traffic on the A45 and A6, as well as local traffic accessing Higham Ferrers and Rushden.

Once the weekend works are complete, the junction will be returned to two-lane running, and road users will be able to use the new outline of the junction ahead of non-essential retail re-opening on Monday (April 12).

Highways England has advised drivers that from Monday, the roundabout will be open under a new layout so they should take care when using it.
