The vacancies come as roads are expected to be busier from today (April 12) onwards as stage two of lifting lockdown is given the go-ahead, allowing people to go on domestic holidays with their households.

Mark Fox, CEO at Roadchef, said: "The coronavirus pandemic has been incredibly testing for all of us. As the roadmap out of lockdown continues, it is looking likely that we will have another busy staycation summer.

"While all our sites have been open for the past year to provide a safe place for essential travellers to stop and de-stress, the roads have been very quiet.

“However, we are excited by the outlook for UK tourism, especially in the second half of 2021, and look forward to welcoming customers back to our motorway service areas.

"We’re recruiting plenty more friendly and passionate people to ensure our sites can eagerly welcome back travellers with the highest possible standard of customer service.

"As the sector opens up again, we encourage people to consider a career in hospitality at Roadchef. Despite the challenges, it is a resilient business and with opportunities and experience of moving between food service brands, people can really build a career they will love.”

Over the course of the next three months, the firm is looking to recruit 1,000 new team members from entry-level through to manager roles across the UK.

The easing of restrictions is also perfectly timed with English Tourism Week, which is from April 18 - 24, the lifting of regulations and boom in domestic tourism is expected to help the UK in its post-pandemic recovery.
