Take a look at photographs of some of Northampton’s biggest stories and momentous events of 2022.

9. The National Rail Depot burns down
Fire crews were called to a fire at the National Rail Depot in Far Cotton on June 28. Eyewitnesses reported thick clouds of smoke billowing out from the building as the fire grew in size. It took around 40 firefighters four hours to get the blaze under control and police had to temporarily close all surrounding roads. An investigation carried out by the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service found that it was possible the fire started "accidentally" due to a faulty battery. Photo: Dylan Lynch
