Crash investigators say a main road through a Northampton industrial estate will be closed for "several hours" on Friday following a crash overnight.

Drivers are being advised to avoid a stretch of Salthouse Road in Brackmills while investigation and recovery work is ongoing.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Salthouse Road is closed between the junctions of Caswell Road and Gowerton Road following a road traffic collision — and it likely to remain closed for several hours. Please avoid the area if possible."

DIY giant Wickes, international healthcare company Baxter and logistics firm Great Bear all have warehouses nearby.

Police later confirmed a cyclist was taken to hospital following the collision but their injuries "are not believed to be life-threatening."
