Northampton Borough Council is in the final stages of bidding for £12.5 million from the Government's Future High Streets Fund. In a press conference earlier today, Friday, the borough released new images and fresh updates on projects in the town centre.

Beaumont House would add another 60 apartments. The borough council has acquired both Riverside House and Beaumont House for a total of 20 million. Belgrave House would operate on a long-term lease.

Four Waterside - This area has been vacant for some time. The borough council has full control of the site so it can move quickly on development. The plan includes creating a 125-bed, three-star, hotel. Commercial testing, the council says, shows there is demand. There are also plans for 90 units of accommodation and a Grade A office development. Plans are being taken to the Enterprise Zone board this summer.

Market Square - Two rounds of public consultation have been carried out and feedback features heavily in the new designs. The Market Square is seen as the catalyst for wider redevelopment of the town centre, enhancing footfall and expanding opportunities for new businesses.
