Northamptonshire children asked to nominate the ‘real-life role models’ who inspire them

Children and families across Northamptonshire are being invited to nominate the everyday people who have made a difference to their lives.

Northamptonshire-based L Magazine has launched a search for ‘Real-Life Role Models’ to feature in its October edition.

The magazine, aimed at children and young people aged five to 16, wants to highlight people who inspire youngsters through their kindness, resilience, encouragement and support.

Nominees could include grandparents, teachers, siblings, coaches, support workers or friends.

Lucy Downer, founder of L Magazine, said: “We talk so much about the people children see on television and social media, but some of the most incredible role models are right there in their own families and communities.

“When we asked for nominations, the response really made us think. There are so many ordinary people doing extraordinary things who may never realise just how much of an impact they have had on a child.”

Selected nominations will be featured in the magazine’s October edition.

Lucy added: “Being a role model isn't about being famous, having thousands of followers or achieving something the whole world knows about.

“Sometimes it's the person who listens. The person who keeps showing up. The person who makes a child believe in themselves.”
