Northamptonshire animal rescue charity named among UK's top five shelters in national awards
A Northamptonshire animal rescue charity which has spent 35 years helping animals find new homes is celebrating national recognition after reaching the final of a prestigious awards competition.
Animals In Need, based in Little Irchester, has been selected as one of five finalists for UK shelter of the year at The Rescue Pet Awards 2026.
Organised by Only Rescues UK, the awards recognise individuals, charities and organisations working to improve the lives of rescued animals.
The shelter of the year category honours organisations demonstrating exceptional care, compassion and innovation in supporting dogs, cats and other animals.
The winning charity will receive a £500 donation.
Sanctuary manager Annie Marriott said the nomination was particularly meaningful for everyone involved in the organisation.
She said: “This means so much to us and everyone who plays a part in giving animals a second chance.
“From our dedicated staff and volunteers to our wonderful supporters, every one of you helps make a difference to all of the animals.
“We’re looking forward to meeting the other finalists at the awards ceremony in November and celebrating the incredible work rescue organisations do for animals across the UK too - good luck everyone.”
Annie also thanked awards organiser Only Rescues UK and category sponsor Simply Jaspers for their support.
Animals In Need has spent more than three decades rescuing and rehoming animals throughout Northamptonshire and beyond.
The winners will be celebrated at an awards ceremony this November.
