International Women’s Day (IWD) is a time for celebration and we have collated a list of 10 women who we, at the Chronicle & Echo, are inspired by.
Although you shouldn’t need a reason to celebrate the commendable women in your life, be sure to make the most of this opportunity.
Whether they have done something particularly impressive, or simply look out for you every day, IWD is a chance to show your admiration and appreciation.
Though only 10 are included in this list, we know how many amazing women there are across the town and beyond – and we have been lucky to interview many of them.
Take a look at these 10 inspirational women from across Northampton…

9. Teresa McCarthy-Dixon
Teresa McCarthy-Dixon founded The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation during the pandemic, with the aim of alleviating hunger and providing essential supplies to those in need across Northampton and the wider county. Having evolved to a fully functioning support group, Teresa has continued to enhance the wellbeing and standard of living for residents. 10. Cheri Curran
Cheri Curran sadly lost her son Louis-Ryan Menezes, aged just 17, to a single stab wound in May 2018. Since then, she has continued to do important work to educate and raise awareness of knife crime. Her aim is to make the town a safer place, particularly for young people like her son Louis-Ryan. Cheri does a lot of work with the Emmanuel Group of Churches, focusing on Northampton and where Louis-Ryan was killed in Kingsthorpe. Photo: Kirsty Edmonds

11. Lucienne Shakir
Lucienne Shakir, the founder of Lucienne Coaching, takes pride in challenging the status quo. The award-winner has been praised for her work as a high performance coach and mentor, specialising in female empowerment and working with female business founders. Her aim is for people to see just how powerful women-led businesses are, especially as the founders are typically raising families too. Photo: Lucienne Shakir
