International Women’s Day (IWD) is a time for celebration and we have collated a list of 10 women who we, at the Chronicle & Echo, are inspired by.
Although you shouldn’t need a reason to celebrate the commendable women in your life, be sure to make the most of this opportunity.
Whether they have done something particularly impressive, or simply look out for you every day, IWD is a chance to show your admiration and appreciation.
Though only 10 are included in this list, we know how many amazing women there are across the town and beyond – and we have been lucky to interview many of them.

5. Natalie Faulkner
Natalie Faulkner is the owner of the Beauty Withinn salon, in Harlestone Road, which she founded a decade-and-a-half ago. Not only does Natalie have a commitment to making her clients feel confident and empowered, but she continually gives back to charity and the community. She collaborates with The Lewis Foundation to regularly offer free pamper mornings to adult cancer patients, and took part in Strictly Northampton 2023 in aid of Cynthia Spencer Hospice. 6. Nicola Elliott
Nicola Elliott is the founder of the Northants Litter Wombles, a group that has been making a difference across the county since the start of 2021. Nicola has displayed unwavering commitment to tackling litter and is one of the driving forces behind the group, alongside juggling a full-time job. More than 80,000 bags of litter have been collected by the Litter Wombles and that would not have been possible without founder Nicola. Photo: Nicola Elliott

7. Lorraine Lewis
Lorraine Lewis is the co-founder of The Lewis Foundation, a charity that provides free gift packs and support to adults receiving cancer treatment in hospitals across the Midlands. Having recognised the fear, upset and loneliness faced by individuals undergoing treatment, Lorraine and the charity has continued to make a real difference by sourcing donations, packing and delivering gifts since April 2016. 8. Rebecca Gill
Rebecca Gill is a registered nurse and award-winning social entrepreneur, with more than 12 years of experience within the learning disabilities, brain injury rehabilitation and mental health sectors. She is the founder of VR Therapies, an organisation dedicated to using its virtual reality and immersive technology to support those with special needs and disabilities.
