Protesters have taken to the streets in Northampton town centre today to march in support of Palestine. The protest - supported by the Northamptonshire Palestine Solidarity Campaign - started outside BBC Radio Northampton at 2pm. A similar protest took place last Saturday (May 15), which was organised by the Northamptonshire Palestine Solidarity Campaign. It follows after a small group of Northampton town centre councillors wrote to Andrew Lewer MP asking him to convince the Government to intervene in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story contained a statement released by Northamptonshire Police that a £90 fixed penalty notice had been handed out to an individual who set off a flare. Northamptonshire Police has, on Monday afternoon, published an updated statement: “This statement was issued in error and we can confirm that no such FPN was handed out and that the matter is now closed.” The story has subsequently been edited.
