In pictures: More rubbish left at Northampton park as town battles litter issue

The council has launched a new campaign to tackle the problem

Local residents have been left frustrated once again as more litter has been left at a Northampton park.

Over the weekend, empty packets and laughing gas canisters were left at Lingswood playing fields rather than being disposed of properly.

The sight in Lingswood comes just a week after Abington Park suffered from a weekend of a lot of left behind rubbish.Northampton Borough Council is responding to the town's litter problems by launching a new campaign.

As part of the launch, Councillor Mike Hallam, cabinet member for the Environment at the Council, said: “We know that the majority of residents dispose of their rubbish in a responsible way

"However, the actions of a selfish minority ruin everyone’s enjoyment of our streets, parks and open spaces, affects people’s feelings of wellbeing and safety and attracts crime.

“As the lockdown measures are being eased, people need to play their part in shaping the ‘new normal’, leaving behind any old littering habits and taking litter home with them."
