Four crews attended garden fire believed to have started accidentally due to out of control bonfire in Northampton

Four crews attended a garden fire believed to have started accidentally due to a bonfire that got out of control on a residential street in Northampton.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service told this newspaper that at around 7.30pm on August 2 they were called to reports of a fire on Hood Street.

Four crews attended the fire which had started in a garden, and firefighters used hose-reel jets and drag forks to put it out. The fire was covering 40 by 40 metres of land and had spread to fencing and gardens on both Cowper Street and Hood Street.

Northamptonshire Police closed Kettering Road in Northampton while the incident was dealt with, and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service says it was believed to have started accidentally due to a bonfire that had got out of control.
