We kickstarted our coverage of the impressive milestone on Monday (October 7), with an interview with long-standing centre manager Kevin Legg.
The team takes pride in the fact they do not just run a shopping centre, but a place the community knows they can turn to during the most difficult times.
People travel across the county to visit and the centre is nearly back at the numbers they used to see prior to the turmoil of the past four years.
Weston Favell has become known for its community events, which are often free and have welcomed thousands of families over the decades – particularly at Christmas time.
Businesses have come and gone over the years, but there are currently zero units available – and the team believes this is testament to the need to provide retail, leisure and services people want and need.
Kevin and his team invite the Northampton community to their 50th anniversary exhibition, which is now on display until the end of November. You can take a look at the nostalgic photos and hear interviews with long-standing staff members and customers.
The big birthday bash is planned for Tuesday, October 29, when the original Wombles will be returning 50 years on from when they opened the shopping centre. Everyone is invited to visit and share this special day with the team and businesses.
The Chronicle & Echo is working with Weston Favell Shopping Centre until the end of October to mark the celebration. If you would like to share your memories and pictures, email [email protected].
With thanks to Richard Durham for the drone footage at the top of this story.
