The mum-of-two who does not wish to be named said: “We had been out and about all day.

“When we got back, the street was full of police and fire engines.

“I then got told it was my house of fire.”

The fire, which is being treated as arson, destroyed everything upstairs in the house, from beds and bedding to the whole family’s clothes.

More items downstairs were salvaged, but the family, including a three-year-old and a two-year-old, have lost most of their belongings.

The mum added: “The children have lost all their toys and clothes, as well as TVs and DVDs, and I’ve lost all my clothes and belongings.

“You don’t think about the little things, like underwear and toys and stuff like that.

“But they’ve also lost important keepsakes too, like first birthday cards.

“They’re really unsettled and are just thinking ‘what is going on?’”

Since the fire, the family has been staying with a relative, while new accommodation is sought.

A friend has also set up a fundraising page to help the family get back on their feet and to buy the young children new clothes and toys.
