Detectives investigating a sexual assault on a woman in her 20s at a village pub near Northampton have arrested a 25-year-old man.

Officers launched an urgent appeal for information after the victim was attacked at a nearby lake after a night out at the Brampton Halt in Pitsford Road on July 21.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "A 25-year-old Northampton man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault as a result of information received from the public.

"He has now been released on bail pending further enquiries.

"Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation and have expressed their thanks to those who came forward with information."
