Four teenage boys appear in court charged over stabbing at Northampton McDonald's

A 17-year-old boy suffered knife wounds in the incident on Wednesday

Four teenagers have appeared in court today charged over the stabbing at McDonald's in the Drapery this week.

At around 4.30pm on Wednesday (October 14), police were called to the town centre fast food restaurant after a violent fight broke out.Police say a 17-year-old victim of a knife attack sustained injuries which are "not life-changing or life-threatening".

Today (October 16), four teenage boys have appeared at Northampton Magistrate's Court charged with the incident.

A 16-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys has been charged with violent disorder, wounding with intent and possessing a knife in public.

Another 17-year-old boy has also been charged with wounding with intent and violent disorder.

A fifth teenager - and 18-year-old - was released without charge.This newspaper broke news of Wednesday's incident after emergency services rushed to the the Drapery following a 999 call at around 4.30pm.

Armed officers were on the scene within four minutes of the call. Diners dashed out of the fast-food restaurant as the incident unfolded.

The five suspects were arrested during the course of the evening.

None of the teenagers can been named due to their age.

Detective Inspector Dan Finney, from Northampton CID, who is leading this investigation said: “Tackling knife crime is a priority for us and incidents such as this are not acceptable.

“Thankfully incidents such as this are rare and I want to take this opportunity to reassure the public that we understand their concerns and take the issue of violence extremely seriously.”
