Northamptonshire Police have confirmed they were called to reports of a stabbing outside McDonalds at the Drapery in Northampton Town centre at 4.30pm earlier today (October 14).

The Chronicle & Echo reported earlier this evening that there was a large police presence outside the fast food outlet earlier today.

A spokesperson for McDonald's said: "We can confirm an incident took place this afternoon and we are assisting the police with their ongoing enquiries."

The East Midlands Ambulance Service received the 999 call at 4.35pm and a patient was taken from the scene of the incident to Northampton General Hospital.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: "Police were called to reports of a stabbing at the Drapery in Northampton just after 4.30pm this afternoon. Officers are still in attendance and scene guard in place. If you have any information, please call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
