Complaints about 'awful' litter outside Northampton General Hospital
“We have cleared the area queried and thank the member of the public for alerting us to it”
Complaints have been made about ‘awful’ litter outside Northampton General Hospital.
Ruth-Lynne Egerton contacted the Chronicle & Echo about waste on the hospital grounds, which she said was ‘awful’ and ‘strewn all over’ outside Area M, which houses the children’s and maternity services.
The rubbish included blue gloves, which are primarily for medical use.
But University Hospital Northampton director of estate and facilities Rob Drabble says the rubbish was non-clinical.
He said: “We take all reports of litter on site seriously and address them as soon as practical.
“We have cleared the area queried and thank the member of the public for alerting us to it.
“The waste in question was domestic waste and appears to have fallen off our one of electric trailers we use to transport waste. The gloves are likely to have been used by our housekeeping team when disposing of waste.”
