Breast cancer survivor launches business in Northampton to inspire and support women

Nisha Tanna, 38, of, Wootton, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer two years ago and says one of the hardest parts of dealing with cancer was the lack of signposting to support services following her recovery.

Now, two years later, she wants to share her experience and professional expertise with cancer sufferers, and has launched business, Beyond Breast Cancer to help other women who are on a similar journey and are passionate about health and well-being.

Talking about her diagnosis, she said: "My first reaction was, I do not have time for this. I have two babies, I have just moved house and gone self-employed.

"I lost my hair and my identity. There were days I could not pick up my children because of surgery.

"I feel like I have a real purpose now, that's what has inspired me to start up Beyond Breast Cancer."

Nisha launched her business on Friday, November 24 at a launch night at Foodies Rocks in Derngate.

She added: "With one in three people being affected by cancer - and with that figure likely to go up to one in two - it will affect us all.

"Prevention, recovery, and reducing chances of re-occurrence are all areas I wish to focus on.

"How we nourish our bodies and take care of our emotional well-being both have a direct impact on our health. It's why I am so passionate about it. Thankfully, I had a lot of support around me and I want to share what I have learnt on my journey. That’s where Beyond Breast Cancer was born."
