For the past month, the Chronicle & Echo and Northants Telegraph have been working with organisations across the town and wider county to pull together a celebration of just some of the key workers and volunteers who have made a difference during lockdown.

Members of Northamptonshire Polices Public Protection teams have continued safeguarding children activities throughout the Covid-19 pandemic to protect some of the most vulnerable members of the community

FCR Operative Craig Styles was due to represent Team UK at this years Invictus Games, which were due to be held in the Netherlands in May. Instead, he and his colleagues in the Force Control Room answered around 16,000 999 calls and more than 33,000 101 calls during April and May.

During unprecedented times which has seen the emergency services having to deal with the additional strain of the Covid-19 pandemic, Northamptonshire Police welcomed its biggest intake of new starters into the Force Control Room for a number of years, when 15 FCR Operatives started their 12-week training with the Force on April 14.

Police Community Support Officers, Dot Wilson-Townsend and Craig Matthews from the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team, helped give Maclain an 11th birthday to remember as she was one of many children across the county celebrating her special day during the lockdown.

From left SC Lynn Morris, SC Dom Clowes, SC Liam Parker, SC Emmanuel ODame and SS Ben Baines took part in Op Talla patrols in Northampton. Members of the Northamptonshire Special Constabulary volunteered a huge total of 7,800 hours to Covid-19 patrols since the pandemics lockdown was imposed.

While things slowed down in the world amidst the coronavirus pandemic, police officer recruitment and training continued apace to ensure Northamptonshire Police remains prepared to fight crime and protect people. In June, a total of 66 officers stood on parade for uniform inspection.
