Whole floor deep cleaned at Barclays HQ in Northampton after worker calls in sick

It is yet to be confirmed whether the sick employee is still unwell or in self-isolation

A whole floor at Barclay's headquarters in Northampton was evacuated and cleaned after a worker fell ill - but is now back to normal.

An employee at the office in Brackmills Industrial Estate, which employees thousands of people, did not feel well on Wednesday evening (March 11) and the following morning.

As a precaution in light of the coronavirus outbreak, everyone else on their floor was moved so the area could be cleaned, a bank spokesman said.

"A member of staff of staff on Wednesday evening/Thursday morning didn't feel well," they said.

"So as a precaution we cleaned that floor and the other employees were moved in line with our protocols with a number of our other sites in the current climate.

"The floor is now running as normal."

It is yet to be confirmed whether the sick employee is still unwell or in self-isolation.

An employee at Nationwide's administration centre in Moulton Park has tested positive for coronavirus, leading to a deep-clean of their work area.
