Northampton General Hospital restricts visiting to one hour per day due to coronavirus

Northampton General Hospital has implemented further visiting restrictions in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week the hospital restricted visiting to two hours per day.It has now taken action to limit visiting to one hour per day between 6pm and 7pm in most parts of the hospital.

A spokeswoman for Northampton General Hospital said: “From March 18 we are further restricting visiting times across the hospital due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

“We are currently only allowing visitors between 6pm and 7pm.

“Please speak to a member of staff if there are exceptional circumstances and please be respectful to staff.”

The hospital is also requesting that there are no more than two visitors per patient at a time, that no children under five visit and that all visitors use hand gel and wash their hands thoroughly.

Below is a list of wards where different restrictions apply.

Disney and Paddington wards

Open visiting for parents or carers but only one parent or carer is allowed to stay with their child. No other visitors are allowed, including siblings.

Paediatric assessment unit, paediatric outpatient department and paediatric medical day case

If you are asked to attend any of these areas your child should be accompanied ideally by one parent only. No other visitors are allowed, including siblings.

Labour and birth

One birth partner only. No children.

Postnatal wards

One visitor only between 6pm-7pm. Individual requirements to be discussed with midwife in charge of ward. No children

Critical care unit (ITU/HDU)

Visiting will be restricted to one or two visitors between 6pm and 7pm. If visiting is required outside of this time please speak to the nurse in charge.
