Radlands Plaza skatepark on the Bedford Road is set to be fenced off in a bid to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Northampton Borough Council, which runs the site, said it is in the process of organising the safety measures.

An NBC spokesman said: “We are in the process of arranging fencing to close off the site as best we can.

“Unfortunately this will not prevent young people gathering and mixing inappropriately, so we’re reliant on parents taking some responsibility and ensuring they know where their children are and what they’re up to.

“We’re only going to come out of the other side of this lockdown if everyone does their bit, however inconvenient and frustrating that might be.”

This comes after Northamptonshire Police said yesterday (Tuesday) that the skatepark was an 'area of concern' in the fight against Covid.
