Healthcare admissions have risen sharply across the UK during the last month as Covid-19 cases multiplied.

And the county’s clinical commissioning group chief executive, Toby Sanders, last week revealed there were a dozen Covid-19 patients being treated at the county's two main hospitals.

Northamptonshire's Public Health officials are due to hold their weekly media briefing tomorrow (Friday) when figures for current hospitalisations are likely to be updated.

NHS analysts release information on the deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England and either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

A further 151 deaths in county care homes have been linked to Covid-19 by the Care Quality Commission, although the most recent was on August 17.

Northamptonshire has seen 464 new Covid-19 cases confirmed by positive tests in the last week, with the highest infection rates now appearing in East Northamptonshire and Daventry.
