It is never nice to see a business depart our town and we have so far seen a total of seven closures. Some have left premises empty and others have made way for new additions.
Despite saying goodbye to big names like Steffans in the town centre and Cineworld in Sixfields, seven businesses have opened their doors for the Northampton community to enjoy.
Many business owners have already expressed their worry about what lies ahead in 2025, so being a loyal customer to your favourite businesses has never been more important.
Take a look at the businesses that have already opened and closed in Northampton in the first three months of 2025…

5. CLOSURE – MenKind
National retailer MenKind, located on the ground floor of the Grosvenor Centre, closed for good in mid-January. The store reopened in October 2024 after a 22-month hiatus following its first closure. It was reported that MenKind signed an 18-month lease until April 2026, however shopping centre owners Evolve Estates went on to say the store was a Christmas temp operator. Photo: National World

6. CLOSURE – Love Your Presence
Love Your Presence, a holistic gift shop and wellness studio founded by Mita Unalkat, opened on St Leonard’s Road in June 2023 with the aim of helping people become their best selves. However, a year-and-a-half later, Mita knew it was the right time to move on and pass the shop onto another business. Mita closed for the final time on January 18 and is now operating from home. 7. CLOSURE – Cineworld
It was the end of an era for Cineworld in Sixfields, which closed for the final time on January 19. Cineworld was one of the town’s biggest cinemas and had been open for 20 years. However, this is not the end of the venue as ODEON is taking over and transforming it into a state-of-the-art Luxe cinema in 2025. Photo: National World

8. CLOSURE – Starbucks
Starbucks, located inside the same building as Cineworld in Sixfields, also closed down on January 19. A spokesperson for the popular coffee shop told the Chronicle & Echo that they were working with employees to offer them positions at nearby stores. Photo: National World
