It appears this national health and beauty chain will be unexpectedly returning to Northampton town centre
It looks like a national health and beauty chain, which appeared to close down for good when the company entered administration, will be returning to Northampton town centre after all.
Bodycare on Abington Street shut for the final time in September 2025, after signs were put up in the windows saying everything must go.
The shop had noticeably reduced stock levels on the shelves in the weeks leading up to the national chain entering administration at the start of September. Less than two weeks later, Northampton’s store was gone for good.
Founded in 1970 on a market stall in Lancashire, Bodycare sold branded health and beauty products, as well as fragrances and bathroom consumables.

The company traded from 147 stores across the UK and employed 1,500 people before entering administration, as a result of rising costs, a delayed transition to its online retail platform, and the cost-of-living crisis impacting its customer base.
All members of staff at the Abington Street store were made redundant, including a handful of long-standing team members who had worked at Northampton’s Bodycare for more than a decade-and-a-half.
10 months later, it appears from social media posts that Bodycare has undergone a modern rebrand after being bought out. The first store to be reopened is up north in Sheffield on July 18, and there are plenty more where that came from.
On Bodycare’s website, there are 16 stores labelled as “coming soon” and one of them is listed as Northampton with “Grosvenor Shopping” written next to it.
Bodycare has rebranded itself with a new look and new names but the same prices, with health and beauty essentials and fragrances set to return to the shelves.
New aspects to the brand are Korean beauty products, a piercing studio in every store and Live @ Bodycare – which are free to use, in-store content creator studios.
The website says that Bodycare aims to be a space for customers to explore, create and express themselves fully, with the in-store content creator studios forming an important part of the relaunch.
We have no further information about when or where Northampton’s Bodycare store will be reopening, although we can assume it will be in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, so we will keep our eyes peeled for any developments over the course of 2026.
