New home for Tesco site in Northampton revealed in Guildhall application
Tesco Metro in Northampton town centre is shutting its doors and downsizing.

Hide AdAfter nine years in one of the town's main shopping streets, the store is now relocating 'nearby' and will reopen next year as an Express store.
A new application for a premesis licence was granted by Northampton Borough Council to Tesco Stores Ltd from August 17, 2020.
The new address for the Tesco store will now be at 15 Abington Street, which was formerly River Island, before the fashion retailer shut up shop and relocated to the Grosvenor Centre.

Hide AdThe new premesis open hours requested by supervisor Steven Andrzejuk are from 6am to 11pm, which includes the sale of alcohol.
According to auction site, Allsop, the 2467 square metre Tesco Metro store, which costs £251,576 per year to rent, has already been sold.
Tesco Metro first opened in Abington Street on Monday, April 4, 2011, on the site of the former Woolworths store, and created 80 jobs.
The Tesco move was announced on the same day that bosses at Sainsbury's in the Grosvenor Centre confirmed it was also shutting down.
