The WKU British International Open welcomed martial artists from across the country and beyond, bringing together skill, determination and sportsmanship in a thrilling display of kickboxing. Among the standout performers was Harlee Hooker, who delivered an outstanding set of results and proved himself as a rising star in the sport.
Harlee stepped onto the mats with confidence and competed across three different categories for his club Prestige Martial Arts, showcasing his versatility and dedication to training. In the Light Continuous division, his sharp technique, speed and tactical awareness were on full display as he outperformed every opponent to claim the top spot and take home a well-deserved Gold medal. He followed this success with another dominant performance in the -55kg Points Fighting category, where his precision and ability to read his rivals earned him a second Gold medal of the event.
Stepping into new territory, Harlee also took on the challenge of Kick Light for the very first time. Going up against a highly experienced competitor with an impressive list of titles to their name was no easy task. After a hard contest, he secured a Silver medal – a remarkable achievement for his debut in this discipline, and one that highlights his potential for the future.
Harlee’s performances over the weekend are a testament to his hard work, discipline and passion for kickboxing. From claiming two top prizes to securing a podium finish in a new style against tough opposition, he has set a fantastic standard and shown exactly what he is capable of. Everyone involved in his training and development is incredibly proud of what he has achieved, and we look forward to watching him go from strength to strength in the competitions ahead.
