WingHandsBSL Celebrates 100% Success for Children and Adults
WingHandsBSL is celebrating outstanding results for both children and adults in Northampton, with learners achieving 100% pass rates in their British Sign Language qualifications.

The learning journey for both children and adults was disrupted when DeafConnect closed in April 2026. WingHandsBSL stepped in to support them, giving learners the opportunity to continue their face-to-face classes and complete their qualifications.
Children from St James’s CE Primary School achieved a 100% pass rate in BSL Level 1, while adult learners at Alliston Gardens Youth & Community Centre in Northampton achieved 100% pass rates in both BSL Level 1 and BSL Level 2.

The children’s achievement also led to an invitation to BBC Radio Northampton, where Tanya Wing, Director and BSL Teacher at WingHandsBSL, spoke about the pupils, their hard work and their success.
Tanya said: “I am so proud of all the children and adults. They worked incredibly hard and stayed determined, even when there was uncertainty. It is wonderful to see every learner succeed.”
Tanya’s passion for Deaf education has also taken her overseas. In April 2026, she spent a day volunteering in Vietnam, where she had the opportunity to teach Vietnamese Deaf children about British Deaf culture.
She said: “It was a very special experience volunteering for the day and sharing British Deaf culture with Vietnamese Deaf children. It was wonderful to learn from each other and see how Deaf communities can connect across different countries.”

WingHandsBSL believes learning British Sign Language is important because it helps break down communication barriers between Deaf and hearing people, encouraging greater understanding, confidence and inclusion.
All courses are taught face to face in a classroom, allowing learners to practise directly with their teacher and fellow students in a supportive environment. Learners can work towards recognised BSL qualifications awarded by Signature.
WingHandsBSL offers education for children and adults, including after-school courses, adult evening classes and an afternoon option for those unable to attend in the evenings.
