Northampton Male Voice Choir (NMVC) has made history by swelling its ranks to over 100 choristers – making it one of the largest in the UK.

This milestone achievement follows a massive recruitment drive held to coincide with NMVC’s 80th Anniversary Concert on April 18.

A special guest choir of new recruits called Men United In Song 2026 was set up and specially trained over 13 weeks to perform alongside the main choir.

From that project, 28 men have now joined NMVC, pushing membership over 100 for the first time.

Musical Director Stephen Bell said: "We are incredibly lucky to be able to welcome a fantastic number of hard-working and dedicated choristers to the ranks of NMVC.

"These new choristers have already been part of a brilliant charity choir which has raised £10,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. I am really looking forward to seeing where this new and improved choir can go in 2026 and beyond."

NMVC chairman Mark York said: "As we usher in this new era, we are proud not only of being one of the biggest male voice choirs in Britain, but also the best."
