Summer fun with weeklong theatre holiday clubs!

Royal & Derngate’s popular holiday clubs are back this summer with a choice of exciting themes, and this year the theatre is hosting three weeklong programmes for children from ages 4 to 13, packed with creative activities to inspire and entertain.

The first of two weeks aimed at children aged from 4 to 8 years old, the KPOP Holiday Club, running from Monday 3 to Friday 7 August, offers an immersive weeklong adventure inspired by this song and dance phenomenon. The kids can release their inner warrior, uncover secrets, take down demons and make their own song and dance performance along the way.

The following week brings two more five-day projects, with the Jungle Safari Explorers holiday club for 4 to 8 year olds running from Monday 10 to Friday 14 August. Using storytelling theatre skills, games, and arts and crafts, the small but mighty adventurers will hone their creativity, confidence and appreciation of nature as they become the hero of their own tropical adventure story.

Also taking place from Monday 10 August, the Time Traveller Academy offers young adventurers from 9 to 13 years old a thought-provoking summer experience. Using theatre skills, storytelling, games, crafts and more, each day they will visit and explore a different era, honing both their creativity and their curiosity, and potentially saving the world!

A place on the five-day programme costs £250, with some bursaries available. Each club runs from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate, and an earlier drop off at 8.30am and later pick up at 5.30pm can be arranged for an additional £50 across the five days for added convenience for busy parents.

Further holiday clubs are scheduled for the October half term week, offering four days of spooky Halloween activities!

Run by the theatre’s award-winning Creative Engagement team, the holiday projects help young people develop skills and confidence, make new friends and, above all, have a lot of fun!

For young people wanting to take this further, Royal & Derngate’s Young Company offers weekly youth theatre activities on a termly basis, for ages 7 to 20.
